Criminal case opened into death of three Russian citizens in helicopter crash in south-western Turkey

Urals Transport Investigations Directorate of the Russia’s Investigative Committee has initiated a criminal case over death of three Russian citizens in a KA-32T helicopter crash on signs of a crime under part 3 of article 263 of the Russian Criminal Code (violation of rules for safety traffic safety and operation of air transport involving by negligence death of two or more people).

According to investigators, on 9 August 2012 at about 4 p.m. near the airfield Fetkhie, 150 km to the west of the city of Antalya of Turkish Republic, an aircraft owned by OAO Nefteyugansky Obiedinenny Aviaotryad (OJSC Nefteyugansk United Air Squad) crashed during fire-fighting operations using helibuckets. The helicopter caught fire after it crashed. The three crew members aboard the helicopter, who were Russian Citizens, died on the spot.

At present a number of investigation operations are under way to find out all the circumstances of the incident. Investigation is to be continued.
