In Primorye Criminal proceedings launched against a driver who ran over an elderly woman at a crosswalk

In the morning of 22 October 2012, a driver of Toyota Caldina ran over a 74-year-old woman at a pedestrian crossing in the town of Nakhodka. The woman died of the injuries. It is established that the driver was a 28-year-old officer of Primorsky Territory Directorate of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs. The alcohol test showed presence of alcohol in the driver’s blood. The Primorsky Territory investigating bodies of the Russia’s Investigative Committee have launched criminal proceedings over signs of a crime under part 4 of article 264 of the RF Criminal Code (violation of the rules for traffic safety which entailed by negligence death of a person).

The woman’s body is under forensic examination. The suspect is detained, pre-trial restraining measure is under discussion. Investigation is to be continued.
