In Saint-Petersburg a man convicted for attacking co-owner of joint enterprise ZAO Peterburgsky Neftyanoy Terminal

Court has recognized the evidence collected by the Central Investigations Directorate of the Russia’s Investigative Committee sufficient to convict Andrey Mikhalyov. He was found guilty of crimes under part 2 of article 105 (murder), part 3 of article 30, part 2 of article 105 (attempted murder) and part 3 of article 222 of the RF Criminal Code (illegal handling of firearms).

According to investigators, after the unsuccessful attempt of hostile takeover of joint enterprise ZAO Peterburgsky Neftyanoy Terminal (Saint-Petersburg Oil Terminal) (CJSC) Vladimir Barsukov and Vyacheslav Drokov set up an organized group to kill one of actual co-owners of the enterprise intending to get hold of its property after his death. The group consisted of 8 people, who carefully prepared the crime for half a year. Brothers Oleg and Andrey Mikhalyovs, who at that time were wanted for other crimes, were to be the hitmen. In the afternoon of 5 May 2006 in Levashovsky Prospekt in Saint-Petersburg the brothers shot two cars of the businessman and his security from submachine guns. One of the bodyguards was killed, others suffered shot wounds of different gravity.

The court sentenced Andrey Mikhalyov to 20 years, 10 of which he will spend in prison.

A criminal case against Oleg Mikhalyov is being tried by the court at the moment. Investigation of a criminal case against Barsukov, Drokov and other accomplices is being finished, the accused are reading the files.
