The Chairman of the Investigative Committee conducted a personal reception of citizens in Moscow on 9 October 2012. During the reception which took from 11 to 6:30 p.m. Alexander Bastrykin received 33 people. He received citizens from Moscow, Moscow Region, Saint-Petersburg, Krasnodar Territory, Republic of Mari-El, Karachay-Cherkessia, Tatarstan and Astrakhan, Bryansk, Ivanovo, Penza, Kostroma, Saratov and Yaroslavl Regions. Together with the Chairman the reception was attended by His First Deputy Vasily Piskarev and a number of heads of divisions of SK Central Office.

The most people were complaining about procedural decisions made over criminal cases investigated by investigating bodies of the Investigative Committee. The citizens were complaining about decisions of other law enforcements and court verdicts. The special attention Mr Bastrykin paid to the appeals of the citizens who were asking to take under control investigation of crimes committed against children and a number of cases over murders which evoked public response. In addition, the Chairman received people who were complaining about the investigation of a case by Irkutsk Military Garrison Investigations Department.

At the end of the reception Alexander Bastrykin gave explicit orders to heads of a number of territorial investigating bodies. The progress of considering all the complaints and appeals is taken by Mr Bastykin under his personal control.
