Investigators found motive of Mikhail Pakhomov’s abduction

As part of investigation of a criminal case over abduction of Deputy of Lipetsk City Council Mikhail Pakhomov, the Lipetsk Region Investigations Directorate of the Russia's Investigative Committee has already found that the group planned abduction last year.

During interrogation investigators have got information that the deputy had been shadowed since November 2012. Perpetrators were following every movement of their victim, they knw all the addresses where the Lipetsk deputy lived and visited and even his favorite places where he relaxed. The group repeatedly tried to abduct Pakhomov, but all to no use. Namely, the kidnappers could not finish their criminal intention in Moscow, when Pakhomov was returning from abroad.

The testimonies of one of the detainees show that the purpose of this bloodthirsty hunt was to get from Pakhomov a debt of 80 million US dollars. Moreover, one of the perpetraitors at the interrogation said that Kharitonov, ordering abduction, had explained that his further career promotion had depended on this debt. Career was Kharitonov’s main priority in life.
