In Crimea, man held on suspicion of killing two women and their daughters

Investigators of the Crimean Republic Investigations Directorate of the Russia’s Investigative Committee together with officers of the Russian Federal Security Service and thanks to active position of local citizens have identified and detained a suspect of killing two women and their children and arson of their home. It is former convict Artur Ternovsky, 29, who lived in the victim’s house since February 2014. After committing the crime, the man fled the scene.

The suspect was detained near the town of Armyansk in the Republic of Crimea, when trying to get across the state border.

As it has been reported earlier, on 27 April 2014, about 6 AM, a fire occurred in a detached house in the village of Geroyskoye, Saki District. After the fire had been contained, the specialists found dead bodies of the 46-year-old owner of the house and her 12-year-old daughter and a 44-year-old woman and her 16-year-old daughter, who had come to the house the day before. There were multiple stab wounds. After the examination of the incident scene, the investigators found that it was an arson. The investigating bodies of the Investigative Committee in the Republic of Crimea launched a criminal case under paragraphs “a” and “c” of part 2 of article 105 of the RF Penal Code, part 2 of article 167 (murder, intentional destruction of property).

At present investigating and search operations are underway to find out all the circumstances of the crime. The investigators are looking into motives. The suspect confessed to the murder and arson during a questioning.

Forensic medical, dactylographic, biological and fire expert examinations have been assigned to be run.
