In Tatarstan local resident found guilty of sex crimes against 35 women

A court has recognized the evidence gathered by Tatarstan investigating bodies of the Russia’s Investigative Committee sufficient to convict 41-year-old Yevgeny Shutov. He was found guilty of 39 counts of crimes under paragraph “c” of part 2 of article 131 of the RF Criminal Code (sexual abuse committed by using violence and accompanied by threat of murder), paragraph “c” of part 2 of article 132 (other sex crimes committed by using violence or threats of violence or murder against an underage person), part 3 of article 30, paragraphs “c” and “e” of part 2 of article 132 (attempts of other sex crimes committed by using violence or threats of violence or murder against an underage person).

The court and investigators revealed that between September 2004 and June 2012, 35 young women, including three underage girls, fell victims to Shutov’s crimes in the city of Kazan.

During a competently planned search operation investigators detained Yevgeny Shutov on 10 June this year. A lot of work was done during the investigation. Tens of victims were found. A number of expert examinations were run, including a comprehensive sexual-psychiatric one.

The court sentenced Shutov to 14 years to be served in a maximum-security penal colony.
