In Irkutsk Region new crimes of accused of killing war veteran and his wife revealed

Irkutsk Region investigating bodies of the Russia’s Investigative Committee continue investigating a criminal case over the murder of a veteran of the Great Patriotic War and his wife. Three residents of the city of Irkutsk have been charged with crimes under part 2 of article 105 of the RF Penal Code (murder of two people committed out of mercenary motives), paragraph “c” of part 4 of article 162 (robbery aggravated by grievous bodily harm to the victim), part 5 of article 33, part 2 of article 105 (complicity in killing of two or more people).

On 8 March 2015, a 28-year-old former criminal and his 25-year-old girlfriend were detained on suspicions of the crime in a hotel in Irkutsk. After questioning the suspects, investigators of the regional investigative committee and police officers detained two more women, who were mother and grandmother of the woman held first. It worth noting that the women were related to the victims, this way they got in their flat without any obstacles and killed the elderly people.

The suspects confessed to a number of similar crimes. Since early February 2015, they have cynically killed and robbed 5 retired people aged between 73 and 87 years who lived in Irkutsk. As the murder weapon they used knives, iron tubes, awl and other objects. All the crimes were committed with especial brutality and out of mercenary motives. The total sum of money stolen from the victims stood at about 350 thousand rubles. Most of the money the perpetrators spent on their own needs.

At present the man, young woman and 66-year-old woman have been placed in custody. Custodial restraint is expected and charges will soon be pressed against the fourth suspect. The investigation is ongoing.
