A fire in the Admiral shopping center in the city of Kazan happened on 11 March 2015 and according to the latest data claimed lives of 5 people: a 35-year-old woman and 4 men aged 43, 32, 22 and 18 and injured at least 30 people. The material loss is also considerable. An investigative team continues working at the scene. The police have opened an investigation in a crime under part 2 of article 219 of the RF Penal Code (violation of fire safety requirements entailing by negligence death of a person).

At present following a request made by investigators the criminal case has been passed to Tatarstan investigating bodies of the Russia’s Investigative Committee. The investigators are going to find out not only the cause of the fire, but to classify actions of officials responsible for fire safety in the shopping center. The investigation is ongoing.
