In Altai Territory two brothers charged with killing elderly spouse

The Altai Territory investigating bodies of the Russia’s Investigative Committee have charged two brothers aged 29 and 25, born in Novosibirsk Region with a crime under paragraphs “a” and “g” of part 2 of article 105 of the RF Penal Code (murder of two people committed by a group in a previous conspiracy).

According to investigators, on 1 March 2015, in the town of Zarinsk, the accused planned to rob and kill an elderly married couple they had never met before. To do that, they took a hunting rifle with a sawn barrel and a wooden bat. They got into the house and demanded to hand them the documents on the car. After that the young people beat the 72-year-old man and his 67-year-old wife multiple times on their heads with the rifle and bat. The victims died on the spot of their wounds. The accused took valuables from the house and fled in the Lada Kalina car.

The brutal and obscure murder was solved in a short time thanks to coherent actions of investigators and police operatives. The accused failed to escape justice despite the fact that they had tried to escape from law-enforcement bodies by fleeing to the other region of Russia. The brothers were detained in Novosibirsk Region on 5 March 2015.

Both of them have previous police records for robberies and thefts. At present they are in custody. The investigators are gathering and consolidating the evidence. The investigation is ongoing.
