In Novosibirsk Region preliminary investigation opened in possible failures to pay allowances to Great Patriotic War veteran reported by media

A few days ago a number of mass media published reports that a 93-year-old survivor of the Great patriotic War lived in the town of Berdsk, Novosibirsk Region. However the documents confirming that she fought in the war burned in a fire in 1965 and were not restored. At present the woman is registered as the one killed on the front and does not get payouts prescribed under the current legislation. Novosibirsk Region investigating bodies of the Russia’s Investigative Committee are carrying out a pre-investigating check.

During the check the investigators are going to find out shy the survivor of the Great Patriotic War cannot return the status of a war veteran. A procedural decision will be made following the check.
