In Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Area-Yugra investigation launched in water transportation safety breach after deputy governor of region got into accident in Ob river

The investigating bodies of the Ural Transportation Investigations Directorate of the Russia’s Investigative Committee have launched a criminal investigation in a crime under part 2 of article 263 of the RF Penal Code (violation of water transportation safety rules that entailied death of a person by negligence).

According to investigators, on 30 May 2015, about 8 PM, local time, the Head of Governor’s Office – Deputy Governor of Yugra, who was aboard a Grandess 310C boat without a life jacket on, fell outboard on the 1,160th km in the Ob river due to water transportation safety breach. The dead body has not been found yet, the man is unaccounted for.

At present the investigators are assigning a water-technical expert examination. They have given orders to the police and Emergencies Ministry to organize search operation. They are also conducting investigative operations to find out all the circumstances of the incident. The investigation is ongoing.
