In Khakassia, former Sorsk mayor to stand trial for abuse of authority

Khakassia investigating bodies of the Russia’s Investigative Committee have finished investigating a criminal case against former mayor of the town of Sorsk Alexander Zhukov. He is charged with a crime under part 2 of article 286 of the RF Penal Code (abuse of authority).

The investigators have revealed that during implementation of the Program of comprehensive development of communal infrastructure systems of Sorsk in 2011-2015 and up to 2025, which was aimed at raising the quality of communal services, in August 2012, Sorsk town administration and OOOBiyskenergomash assembly and setup center concluded a municipal contract on major overhaul of a boiler in the town’s boiler house. The contract was worth over 9 million rubles and had the deadline before 28 November 2012.

In August and December 2012, Zhukov signed the acceptance certificates and receipts presented by the contractor, aware that at the time the company failed to complete all the work under the contract. Later based on the documents signed by the accused, the Sorsk budget transferred money to the account of the contractor, including for not finished work.

As a result of the wrongdoings of the accused the budget of Sorsk suffered damage of over 2 million rubles.

The investigators have enough evidence so the case with the approved indictment has been sent to court to be tried on the merits.
