In Sverdlovsk Region pre-investigating check launched in derailment of locomotive and two cars of passenger train

On 5 November 2014, at around 8 AM local time, a locomotive and two baggage and mail cars of a passenger train travelling from Vladivostok to Moscow derailed on Sabik station of Sverdlovsk railway. The investigating bodies of the Ural Transport Investigations Directorate of the Russia’s Investigative Committee have launched a pre-investigating check into the incident.

An investigative team set off for the scene immediately. According to preliminary data, on Sabik station the locomotive of the passenger train hit a freight train causing derailment of the locomotive and two baggage and mail cars. Nobody was injured or killed.

At present the investigators are checking reasons for and circumstances of the incident. A procedural decision will be made following the check.
